Wally Hudyma

Wally Hudyma commenced his insurance career with Saskatchewan Government Insurance in Regina in July, 1949. In 1953 Wally was appointed as an adjuster in the Automobile Claims Department and remained in this position until February 15, 1957 at which time he joined an independent adjusting firm known as Stinson Adjusters Ltd.

As an independent adjuster Wally was soon exposed to a myriad of claims covering the entire spectrum of the risks being undertaken by the insurance industry and still does today, but on a more limited scale.

Wally soon became a member of the Insurance Institute of Canada and attained the AIIC and FIIC designations (now FCIP).

Along the way Wally became a member of the Canadian Independent Adjusters' Association as well as the Saskatchewan Association of Insurance Adjusters. Wally chaired the CIAA National Convention in 1989 and was also President of the Southern SAIA Division and chaired two provincial conventions. Wally is a long-standing member of the Blue Goose Organization and has, for some time, held the position of Past Most Loyal Gander.

As a couple of employment highlights Wally was one of ten Canadian adjusters contracted by Thomas Howell (now Crawford Adjusters) on September 23, 1995 to handle hurricane losses in the U.S. Virgin Islands (St. Thomas). The initial contract was for a six week period which turned out to be five and a half months.

The other highlight was the handling of the ice storm claims in Montreal for a three month period in 1998 and a two month period in Ottawa handling uninsured ice storm losses.
